Photocatalytic Activity and Wettability Properties of ZnO/Sawdust/Epoxy Composites

In this work, zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnONPs) and sawdust/epoxy composite (20:80) were mixed using a simple molding method with different ZnONPs concentrations of (0.1, 0.3, 0.5, 0.7, 1.0 %). The samples the nanocomposites characterized by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) technique to demonstrate homogeneity prepared ZnONPs/nanocomposites. photocatalytic activity was examined methylene blue (MB) dye as pollutant solution, through evaluation efficiency compound in treatment organic pollutants under illumination sunlight. results showed that after 240 minutes exposure sunlight, sample (0.5 vol.% ZnONPs) appeared rapid degradation MB dye, photolysis 89% 71% for 5 10 ppm, respectively. Wettability confirmed water contact angles (WCAs) affected concentration ZnONPs.
